Today the news reached me that it would be sooner rather than later before European Grand Prix’s will be rotational. Imagine the Belgium Grand Prix will organise their Grand Prix in 2026 and Spain in 2027. It is an idea Stefano Domenicali had before and already said he would like to see this happen. Right now, there are 24 races on the calendar, a tightened one that can no longer have more races added. However, a continent like Africa is knocking on Formula One’s doors as well does a country like Argentine. It means that the European races have to be sacrificed for the greed that’s called the Formula One. It is time for a European Formula one season.
I did write a couple of times about this idea; it was more in the trend of Flavio Briatore’s idea of the Grand Prix 1 Championship. However, I start to believe that a Formula One series in Europe would be a good solution. It is a fact that the sport is going to countries who bid the most of money. Tracks we love are on the edge to disappear or have already disappeared. Where is the German Grand Prix? I prefer to go to Hockenheim instead of Zandvoort!
I mean why not a European Championship? You could even extend this to an Asian, African, Latin and American Formula One Championship. Make the current Formula One something special, where the aces of ace only appear at the start of the races. However, it is not the subject of this article.
I truly believe, as I believe many of us prefer the European circuits, the Formula One should consider this championship. Imagine a full season on tracks like Imola, Monza, Fiorano, Zandvoort, Hockenheim, Jerez, Catalunya, Magny-Cours, SPA, Hungaroring, Istanbul park and name the rest.
The ticket prices can be lowered down, it will be easier accessible for talent to appear in the Formula One. And most of all, we keep the circuits we love. I mean who is waiting for another race in the Middle East or another one on America?
