Dear reformed Formula One, have you lost your mind?

Blog

It is a stupid question obviously, because you lost your mind. Max Verstappen has to do community service for saying fuck. Have you forgotten about your former mascot Günther Steiner? People only liked him because he continued swearing on television and in the soap “As the wheels turn” or whatever it’s called. I’m not a fan of Max Verstappen, though the punishment you gave him is total bullshit. For saying fuck. Formula One became some reformed joke. Have you ever seen a random video clip on MTV these days? It’s all about bitches, fuck this fuck that and porn. Maybe EMINEM should write a song about the Formula One and completely destroy it. At least that would be funny!

You could ask yourself if I lost my mind. I probably lost my mind indeed! However, it is the vibe and weird reality in todays reformed Formula One. Why brand it as a reformed sport. Well, easily something has changed and that changed the whole community and sport. In my opinion, in a bad way. A way to gain more money, more viewers and more money! Oh wait I’m repeating myself here.

Sure, in our days we had also our weirdos such as Cornelius “Neil” Horan The Armageddon Priest who ran on the track during the 2003 British Grand Prix. As he believed the end was near, he decided to run on the track and be a silly priest. Of course, we also had Flavio Briatore, Tom Walkinshaw, Fernando González Luna, and Andrea Sassetti and so on. However, it was part of vibe and atmosphere of the sport. As we used to have the amazing sound of air horns form the grandstands.

We also used to have drivers with character and drivers who didn’t care to share their opinions. If the drivers dare to give their own opinions, their teams will punish them or shut them down. Even worst, giving hideous penalties for swearing. I mean what is wrong with saying fuck when you release your emotions. Plenty of people use the word fuck in daily life when shit happens. Even Bernie was photographed showed the middle finger.

Therefore, I’m not sure what the message is the Formula One and the FIA, well mostly the FIA, trying to deliver. At the moment Mohammed Ben Sulayem is the boss from the FIA a questionable man. Has something to do with his own opinions in the past regarding woman. The rally sport is encountering the same nonsense regarding swearing on the radio and live on television in interview or so.

Probably has to do with the new group of fans since the soap started on Netflix. The average generation who watched it gets offended really easy and has a burnout when working more than 20 hours a week.  Because life is hard and sucks and doesn’t fit in their stupid bubbles. The sport seems to try to fit in that bubble but they should not even try it.
