As there are over 650 Unraced F1 projects from the period 1885 – 2020 I decided before to publish articles of unraced projects per year. This is easier for you to see which attempts happened a specific year. Of course, it is easier for me as well as researching and writing an article takes a lot of time, which I don’t always have. If you are interested in one of the summarized attempts perhaps, I can give you more info about it.This is the summarized overview of the Unraced projects in 2000.
Stewart SF3B Michelin test car
Stewart showed some decent progression and results during the 1999 season. After two seasons with lots of problems and just a few highlights, the team was in desperate need for these results. Perhaps even more because the Ford Company was to buy the Stewart Grand Prix team from three times world champion Jackie Stewart and his son Paul Stewart. Ford had the intention to debut in 2000 in the Formula 1 with Jaguar Racing. Michelin was in preparation to enter the formula one in 2001. Besides Williams also Stewart gave the company a car to test their tires with. The Stewart SF3B appeared at Miramas the same time Williams tested with the Michelin tyres as well. Tom Kristensen was the driver who took place behind the wheel of the SF3B.
Stewart SF4 (?)
The Stewart SF4 has a question mark behind its name because it is unsure if Stewart Grand Prix already worked on their successor for 2000 during the 99 season. Up to recently I assumed the team did not. However, some info seems to suggest that the Jaguar R1 used “parts” of the Stewart SF4 design. It seems that the Jaguar R1 Chassis 4 and 1 had stamps of Stewart Grand Prix in it. If this is true and how far the Stewart SF4 existed? Well that’s something I will figure out.
Arrows AMT A21
In the autumn of 2000 a white Arrows A21 appeared in Valencia on the track. Pedro de la Rosa tested the car. Why was it completely white? Well, Arrows tested the AMT (Asia Motor Technologies) V10 engine. Basically was this the Peugeot V10 engine that was ditched. The engines from Peugeot were pretty rubbish. However, due the lack of suppliers some rich Asian investors seemed to take advantage of the shortage. On the 11th of October 2000, the first test took place though it was not really a success.
