While writing this I only start to realise that 2025 will be here within 19 days, leaving 2024 behind us. Which means UnracedF1 will enter it’s twelfth year in existence. It means also the first article was published ten years ago, which is horrible and horrific to read today! Hey, we all have to start somewhere, I’m very proud what I’ve reached so far with the website, and I’m not planning to stop with the website. In fact, I love to write just randomly about the Formula One. I love the massive research I got involved with my pre-war Dutch Autosport History project. 2025 will be a new year, another 365 year to write about stuff. Yes, I have some projects I’m planning to finish next year.
First, I want something of my sleeves. I once started the website to cover all the unraced projects in the Formula One. To make a database about it. This is not my focus anymore with my website. While I want to complete in 2025 the list with UnracedF1 projects the focus is not specific on the subject anymore. I believe those who visit the website started to find this out. In fact, I like to cover as well the small and forgotten facts from the Formula One. Who else publishes an article about Pacific Grand Prix’s flirt with BAT as example? Or just a random story about Wheatcroft’s Formula Classic?
Besides completing the UnracedF1 lists, and every now and then publish an article about it the focus will also go to the ultimate Test Drivers overview. Something I started working on two years ago and during those years published some overviews already. There is also a plan to uncover more forgotten stories. Also more info about the Leyton House Racing and March F1 Team from 1990 until Kyalami 1993.
My biggest project, which I don’t believe will be finished in 2025, will be about the Dutch Autosport History from before World War II. This is a topic that almost no showed interested in over here. Like in Belgium, France, Germany Italy, United Kingdom and so on it is well known and documented. Over here in the Netherlands, it is not. I mean, did you know that we already had our “first” track race in 1899? That there are stories from before 1894 of farmers with their first tractors having a “race” to see who is the quickest and best? Most people assume we did not have any form of Motorsport in those days, trust me we did!
Another plan I have in mind is to do more interviews with people, however this is something I don’t put much energy in due the fact my personal life is very busy, and my spare-time is little. It is the reason like in the summertime I don’t publish much, and do more in the wintertime. I’m happy to Laura still on board as a co-writer and who knows maybe some others will follow who can freely publish anything on my website.
